What is program?

There is AA(Alcoholics Anonymous) for people who struggle with the disease of alcoholism.

There is Alanon for the family members of alcoholics. Such as parents, siblings, spouses, or children.

But wouldn't it be awkward for a teenager to be placed in a room full of 40 year old women who's husbands drink?

Yes. So that's where Alateen comes into play. It's the same as alanon, but for children ages 12-19.
